
Anju Singh is a composer, musician, producer, and multidisciplinary artist located on the stolen, unceded, and traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, colonially known as Vancouver, BC in Canada. Her work includes a series of experiments in sound, media art, film, and video as well as traditional compositions juxtaposed with contrasting approaches to composing and creating.
Most recently, Anju has composed for film and theatre and is working in the area of projection design to move her compositions towards audio-visual experience. A multi-instrumentalist, Anju has been actively playing music since the age of 6 and has received formal training in her instruments as well as in music production and eventually completed a degree in Philosophy. Highly critical of institutional learning and limitations, Anju chose to continue her education and learning to develop her artistic practice through artist-run centres running internships, residency programs, and training programs led by established and practicing artists.
Over the past 15 years, Anju has performed and presented her work internationally in Brazil, across Europe, in Mexico, in the USA and across Canada.
Anju also works as a non-profit, technology, and arts consultant. Her professional work expands across Canada and internationally.
